Fossil Excavators is a non-profit organization that is devoted to cross-disciplinary research collaborations and opportunities with a focus on Paleontology, Paleoecology, Paleobiology, Paleobotany, Paleopalynology, Molecular Paleontology, and even Archaeology.

 

The focus isn’t just the discovery, preservation, collection, preparation, and curation of fossils; but includes hands-on education about fossils, the environment, and conservation issues.

In the field we try to integrate hard work, fun, and adventure with serious emphasis on fun and adventure. A good day for us isn’t necessarily finding a “significant” fossil specimen, it is about having a good time fossil hunting or fossil excavating while making new friends, exploring, and learning about Nature.

 

Good fossil finds, good stories, good company, and meeting interesting folks on the journey is part of what we hope to continue to accomplish.

 

If we can help one student get the experience that academia failed to provide them, then we view that as a success story. If we can help one disabled or elderly person to help fulfill their dream of fossil hunting, then we view that as a successful venture. If we can put a smile on a child’s face as they shovel or pick their way to what may or may not be a fossil, then we view that as a good day’s work.

 

Obviously, we can’t accommodate everyone, but we can help to fill the gap and accommodate a few.
